Everything about Islam In Russia totally explained

Islam is often considered the second largest religion in Russia. It is one of the major religions within some groups of ethnic minorities. At the same time, extremely low number of ethnic Christians, Jews or Pagans do profess it (percentage converges zero). As of the last census (in 2002), about 14,340,794 million, or 9.8% of Russia’s population were of any ethnicity that's historically linked with Islam. Important to say that in Russia it's impossible to place a strong correlation between terms "ethnic Muslim" and "Muslim" because of the fact that about 20% of ethnic Muslim population there are Christians and up to 40% are Atheists. Roman Silantyev, a Russian Islamologist has estimated that there are only between 7 and 9 million people who practise Islam in Russia
According to an official estimate conducted by the Russian Interreligious Council, approximately 400 Russian Orthodox clergy belong to traditionally Muslim ethnic groups, 20 percent of Tatars are Christian, and 70 percent of interfaith marriages result in the Muslim spouse conversion to Christianity.
